Riding solo · join a departure

Travelling alone?
You won’t ride
alone.

Our overnight trips are private and run from two riders up — which is why we keep a list of solo riders and pair them into departures. Tell us when you’re in the country and what you’re after, and we’ll come back the moment dates line up.

How it works

One name on the
list is enough.

Most people who ride with us into the St James arrive with a partner, a mate or a family. Plenty don’t — they land in Christchurch on their own with a rough window and a want.

Put your window down here and we’ll do the matching: another solo rider, a small group with a spare saddle, or a private trip built for one. No deposit, no obligation — you hear from us before anything is booked.

Tell us your window

Rough dates are fine — “late February, ten days in the South Island” gives us everything we need to start looking.

02

We match the saddle

We pair you with another solo rider or a group with room, matched on pace and experience — or quote a private trip if you’d rather have the guide to yourself.

03

You ride

Confirm when it suits. Horses, camp, food and the guiding are ours — you bring a duffel and a decent pair of boots.

Solo rider register

Express your
interest.

A real person reads every one of these — usually Milo, between rides. Nothing is charged and nothing is held until you say yes to a date.

We’ll only use this to talk to you about riding with us.

When the road ends,
the real story begins.
